I met Kim and Paul last year, during the height of the election season. We actually spent most of our meeting talking about politics and all the issues surrounding the election, which was right up my alley! (One of my majors in college was political science!) I loved them immediately, and was so happy to be chosen to photograph their wedding at the gorgeous Airlie Center. Going to Airlie is like stepping into this secluded little oasis--even though there are strip malls about 10 minutes away, you would never know it. It is so peaceful and beautiful there--truly a dream location for a wedding! Here are some of my favorites from the day--enjoy!
This image only begins to capture the magic of the location. There are winding paths and roads throughout the property and acres of rolling hills, gardens and ponds.
This was a total spur of the moment shot--I was coming out of the reception room and happened to catch Kim and her bridesmaids leaving the bridal suite. It is one of my faves of the day.
Kim's mom was so cute when she saw her for the first time!
Paul as he is seeing Kim for the first time walking down the aisle.
The ceremony area is just off to the side of the English style gardens and surrounded by trees and flowers.
The new Mr & Mrs!
One of the structures in the garden. There are so many fantastic places for photos on this property--I could've shot there all day!
Party time!
Toasts...
The first dance...
Father - Daughter dance--Kim's father was quite the high stepper and he definitely kept her on her toes!
David, from My DeeJay, kept the party going late into the night!
Kim and Paul, I had such a great time at your wedding! I know you two will be very happy together and wish you many wonderful years together--congratulations!

Family Portraits in Brambleton | Northern VA Portrait Photographer
My sister, who lives in Michigan, recently visited with her whole family. On our last visit, we realized I had never done photos for them, and resolved to do it this time. Even though we had a lot of rain the week they were here, the skies cleared just before they left and we got some great shots, right here in Brambleton. Here are a few of my faves.
I've kind of been liking the water features being turned off for a change--this is the second session where we've been able to use these areas in a totally different way. Love it!
We did some studio shots with the matching dresses. I think these were Easter outfits.
It was so fun to photograph my own family! I wish they were all closer so I could do it more often!

First Wedding of the 2009 Season! | Northern VA Wedding Photographer
I'm back! I've had a bit of an absence on the blog lately. Wedding season has kicked into high gear, I've changed my work flow, and had a nasty sickness rip through my household. I'm all caught up now though and have many more events coming soon on the blog, so stay tuned!
Here are some favorites from my first wedding of the season. It was a gorgeous day, a great couple and a fantastic setting--couldn't have asked for a better way to start off the season! Enjoy!
This couch has been passed down for 3 generations! The pictures hanging on the wall are all with and around the couch--hopefully this one will join the collection soon!
The new Mr & Mrs!
A few faves from Kevin, my 2nd photographer for the day.
Gorgeous flowers by The Flower Gallery of Manassas.
The view from the top at Springfield Golf and Country Club.
First dance.
Father-daughter dance.
Black Tie, Represented through Washington Talent, kept the party going all night!
I loved this cake, made by Rocio of A Piece of Cake. I heard it tasted as good as it looked too!
Congrats to the happy couple! May you enjoy many wonderful years together!
