Published in the Arlington Herald

I'm a little late in posting this--even though it is technically the off season for weddings, I have been keeping very busy with albums, new samples, new contracts, and new offerings! In all the excitement, I almost forgot to post this!
I had a photo published in the Arlington Herald the week of Valentine's Day. Carolyn and Bernie actually sent the photo in, but it was chosen to be published out of hundreds of submissions. It is always fun to see my work in print--thanks to Carolyn for sending it in!

Excellent Tips for Saving Money on your Wedding

I found this post via a fellow photographer and wanted to share it with everyone, as it has some really great advice from wedding planner Amy Nichols. With all the gloom and doom economic news lately, I know couples are watching their wedding budgets closely. Amy Nichols gives great advice on what to splurge on and what to save on in this interview. A lot of her advice is not the conventional "cut back your guest list" wisdom, and definitely worth a read. Read the full story here.

Gloria & Mike: Expecting! Maternity Photos

I am a little late in posting these--even though this is supposed to be the "down" season, I have felt busier than ever and have been neglecting the blog a little bit!
I met Gloria when she was planning her wedding and looking for a photographer. Sadly, I was unable to shoot her wedding due to my little man Quinn--my due date with him was only about a week and a half before her wedding day. I was super sad about missing her wedding, but so happy she wanted me to do her maternity photos!
We had a lot of fun with these photos--this one is one of my new favorite maternity pics!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Here are my two cuties' card this year. I never really liked Valentine's Day that much until I had kids. Now I love all the little cards, lollipops and heart shaped cookies that go along with it! I also use it as a photo op every year!

I hope you're spending the day with those you love--Happy Valentine's Day!

Food Drive + Cans for Comments Results

I was finally able to make it to the Loudoun Interfaith Relief's offices to drop off my load of non-perishable food from the Holiday Food Drive and the Cans for Comments blog post. I planned on donating my food after the holidays, as donations usually drop off drastically at this time of year, so the food is needed even more. Also, I know it is already February (which I cannot believe--where does the time go?) but in all fairness, I did try to make my donation several times and they were closed do to the 'Winter Weather' we had the last week or so. As anyone who lives here knows, we shut down everything at the site of a few snowflakes!
I want to thank everyone who donated items to the food drive--between that, and the Cans for Comments, to which I donated 20 additional items, we came in at a whopping 48 pounds of food! Not bad for the first try! This year, we are going for 100!!
Here are a few shots of some of the items--there was a box I totally forgot about that didn't make it into the group photo!

AOP Wins Bride's Choice Award!

WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that Amie Otto Photography has won the 2009 Bride’s Choice Awards™!

In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. That means
Amie Otto Photography is one of the very best photographers.

Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.

“We are excited to launch this annual award program to honor high-performing vendors based solely on the experiences of our WeddingWire community,” according to Timothy Chi, WeddingWire’s Chief Executive Officer. “This year’s recipients have set the bar high, exhibiting excellent service and expertise in the wedding industry.”

Amie Otto Photography would like to thank our past clients for speaking on our behalf and helping us win the 2009 Bride’s Choice Award!
