Sarah & Jack

Sarah and Jack were married at Brambleton Regional Park, which is right down the street from my house and I didn't even know they had weddings there! The weather was a bit ominous earlier in the day--lots of rain and dark clouds. But then it cleared up and was blindingly bright at times, which can be really hard to work with. I tried to take advantage of the bright sun by getting some sun flare in some of the images, which turned out great.
Sarah walking down the aisle with her father.
More sun flare.

With the couple both being landscape architects, they had a lot of elements of the outdoors incorporated into their ceremony, like herbs in pots, flowers on the cake, and mugs as favors with a nature print on it mimicking the colors of the bridesmaid dresses and the herbs.
Seeing the bride for the first time.
This little flower girl was so cute--she walked down the aisle clutching the mug of flower petals and didn't drop any till being reminded at the end, but then thought it was great fun to scatter them and pick them up again throughout the ceremony. Too cute.

Overall the day turned out great. The weather changing at the last minute made everyone really happy. The couple planed their wedding in only a couple of months--I can't remember the exact number, but I can assure you it was far less than average. For such a short time period, everything was really nice. And the groom planned a surprise honeymoon for the bride--I can't wait to hear where they went!

Brayden

A few weeks ago I got to take baby Brayden's first professional pics. He handled the sitting like a pro! He was probably one of the strongest 14 week olds I have ever seen. He was already making the motions to crawl, which is crazy at such a young age. His parents are in trouble! There were so many cute pics from his sitting. Here are just a few faves, and it just so happens they are all in black and white!

Christina & Alan

I finally finished editing the images from Christina and Alan's wedding. I ended up with just under 130o final images, which I think may be a new record for me! The day was really beautiful--the weather was gorgeous! Here are a few more faves, but honestly, I had to stop picking images about half way through the editing--there were just too many!

Carolyn & Bernie

Have I mentioned lately how much I love my job? Well, if I haven't--I LOVE my job! On April 26th, I had the pleasure of photographing Carolyn and Bernie's wedding. The ceremony was in Latin! In all my Catholic weddings, I have never seen a Latin ceremony so that was a real treat. I also met some fantastic caterers--Blaise and Jim of Fusions Cuisine. The food was probably one of the best meals I have had at any wedding, so if you are looking for a caterer, you should definitely check them out. Carolyn and Bernie had a cake from Victoria's, which is my favorite bakery for cakes of any kind. The guests raved about the food and were going back for second and third helpings of cake it was so good. Here are a few of my favorite images from the day.

I'm kind of obsessed with the lomo look like the image above. Lomo makes a bunch of great products that really let you stretch you creativity with photography. My addiction started when I got their Action Sampler back in college. The photo above has the signature lomo look--saturated , slightly off colors and the vignette around the edges. I love the look on wedding portraits. I think it gives them a cool retro look.
So in love...
Some of the yummy food from Fusions.
