WPJA Q3 Winner!!

This year, I was so excited when I was accepted into the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). To explain the organization, here is a quote from their website:
The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) is a professional organization composed of photojournalists and wedding photographers from around the world. What sets our members apart in the industry is their candid, documentary approach – a distinctly artistic vision toward wedding photography.

The application process is lengthy and consists of an application and website review. Part of being a member means you are eligible to participate in the quarterly contests, which are judged by some of the leading photojournalists in the world. I'm thrilled to announce that I won 10th place in the "Getting Ready" category in the Q3 contest! I placed with this image from Marina and Chris's wedding at Belmont Country Club. Here is a screen shot of the winning entry from the WPJA website.


If winning wasn't enough, my image was also chosen to be one of the rotating images on the WPJA homepage! I really can't say how honored I feel by this. I truly admire all the members of the WPJA--it is one of the most talented pool of photographers I have ever seen. So, to be featured on the homepage is just so great.

I'm so happy to post that we will be published in Premier Bride Magazine's July issue! Kim and Paul's gorgeous wedding at Airlie was chosen to be a featured wedding. The wonderful couple, enchanting setting and personal details made this wedding really special, and I'm so excited that Premier Bride thought so too!

AOP is the New Broadlands Live Photographer!

We are extremely excited that Amie Otto Photography was chosen to be the new Broadlands Live photographer! As the official photographer, we will be at all the events taking photos (of course!) of attendees and the acts performing. The images will be used for the production's website as as be available for viewing and purchase. We're super pumped and can't wait to meet more of our community. See you at the show!

I'm a little late in posting this--even though it is technically the off season for weddings, I have been keeping very busy with albums, new samples, new contracts, and new offerings! In all the excitement, I almost forgot to post this!
I had a photo published in the Arlington Herald the week of Valentine's Day. Carolyn and Bernie actually sent the photo in, but it was chosen to be published out of hundreds of submissions. It is always fun to see my work in print--thanks to Carolyn for sending it in!

That means Amie Otto Photography is one of the very best photographers.

I've been meaning to write about this for awhile now, but with all the holiday craziness and shooting weddings up till last weekend, I let it slip through the cracks. Even though it has taken me awhile to get to it, I am no less excited about my photo being published in the December issue of the Washingtonian! The article is on Abbey, whose wedding I photographed in September. Abbey was diagnosed with leukemia as a child and underwent treatment that was was somewhat experimental. The treatment was a success, and she now works with kids who are often going through a similar ordeal. The article is really interesting--I had no idea she had gone through this or about the recent advances in medical treatment for kids with leukemia till she asked about the Washingtonian using a photo from the wedding. Of course, I was honored and excited to have my photo included!
