Drew and Kevin: Married!

Drew and Kevin were married at the Thomas Birkby House, which is one of my new favorite places for weddings. It is so charming and I love all the brick on the house and the surrounding buildings. Plus it has lots of great flowers, and it is right in downtown Leesburg, so we were able to get some really beautiful city shots.
Drew and Kevin are one of those couples that I felt a connection with right away. I was super excited about the wedding since I had been to events at the Birkby House before, but never photographed a wedding there.
Getting ready began in the house where there are separate areas for the bridal party and groom. Drew modeling her dress for her mom (who is on the other side of the door frame).

The best man trying REALLY hard with the boutonniere. I ended up pinning it :)

Waiting for the ceremony to begin.
I loved these little cones of flowers. After the ceremony, they were hung from the trees.

One of the shots that we did on the street.

Did I mention Drew is a bit of a goof ball?
Loved this little potting shed. This series has some of my favorites from the whole night.

Drew and Kevin's dramatic entrance into the reception.
Father-Daughter dance.
Drew and Kevin's first dance.

What started out as kind of a quiet wedding ended up with guests hanging from the trees and a mini mosh pit!

Congratulations Drew and Kevin! Here's to many years of happiness and laughter!

My Baby is 1!

My how time flies! Hard to believe that my baby Quinn turns one today! He has grown into an amazing little person. He seems to have a lust for life that I have never seen in such a small person! He is so inquisitive, happy and just plain adorable :) I can't wait to see what he has in store for us in his second year....

Ashyn & Will: Lifestyle Portraits

What are lifestyle portraits you ask? For me, it is when I go to the location of the client's choice--usually their home--and photograph the subjects in their natural environment. I've found this works great with kids who are in the age range of about 2-5, the age when they tend to freeze up in a studio type environment. This was the case for Ashlyn--we did studio portraits about a month before these, and she was just so interested in everything else around her, and it was reflected in the photos. We tried these at her house, and they turned out so much more natural. Ashlyn's mom had a little tea party set up for her in her adorable room, which made for some great shots. And Will is just getting cuter by they day!
Here are some faves.

Cathy and Keith: Married!

Cathy and Keith were married at the lovely Bristow Manor, which I really love. They have a great area for the bride to get ready in, and the grounds have lots of fabulous places for photos. And what photographer doesn't love an historic house as the backdrop for their images?
Cathy and Keith are really sweet together and their wedding was an intimate gathering of their family and friends. Here are some of the special details. Cathy's sister did the flowers for her! They were so beautiful and added a really personal touch!
The cake was done by Wanda of Wanda's Cakes. She actually made the cake for my own wedding!
Getting ready.

I ran upstairs during the ceremony to get this shot from above.
The beautiful manor house with the happy couple.

We were able to catch the last of the golden daylight and get this amazing sunset in the background during the reception. These are some of my favorite photos of Cathy and Keith just joking around.

This is perhaps my favorite photo of kids at a wedding in a loooong time! There was a big moth that flew inside and the kids were jumping up trying to catch it. Too cute! I love this one with the little girl in the middle just suspended in mid-air!

Congratulations Cathy and Keith! I wish you all the best!
