This year, I was so excited when I was accepted into the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). To explain the organization, here is a quote from their website:
The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) is a professional organization composed of photojournalists and wedding photographers from around the world. What sets our members apart in the industry is their candid, documentary approach – a distinctly artistic vision toward wedding photography.
The application process is lengthy and consists of an application and website review. Part of being a member means you are eligible to participate in the quarterly contests, which are judged by some of the leading photojournalists in the world. I'm thrilled to announce that I won 10th place in the "Getting Ready" category in the Q3 contest! I placed with this image from Marina and Chris's wedding at Belmont Country Club. Here is a screen shot of the winning entry from the WPJA website.
If winning wasn't enough, my image was also chosen to be one of the rotating images on the WPJA homepage! I really can't say how honored I feel by this. I truly admire all the members of the WPJA--it is one of the most talented pool of photographers I have ever seen. So, to be featured on the homepage is just so great.
You can check out the other winning entries on the WPJA homepage.

Emily & Adam: Married! | MD Wedding Photographer
The crazy holiday rush has kept me from posting this fab wedding sooner!
Emily and Adam had a gorgeous wedding on a beautiful fall day in Maryland. The prep and the reception were held at the Bolger Center in Potomac MD. It was my first time shooting there, and I loved it! Emily and Adam's friends and family were so fun, and really knew how to party--we ended up staying a little late the party was so happening! Here are some favorites from the day:
Emily's grandma was so cute!
Emily's dad was so proud--he gave one of the best speeches/toasts I think I have ever heard. He clearly loves his daughters immensely. Love this look as he was walking her down the aisle.
This little ray of light was coming through the windows at the church as we were leaving. Had to stop and take advantage of it.
Congratulations Emily and Adam! We wish you many years of happiness together!
Reception Site: The Bolger Center

The D Family | Ashburn VA Family Photographer
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing little Louisa who just turned one. She makes my two year old energetic boy look calm! She is super cute and super independent and seemingly has no fear. Oh, and she is always on the move. An outdoor session was perfect for her. We changed up locations a few times to keep her interested and got some great shots. Here are some favorites from the day.
I love this family photo.
Seriously, what baby doesn't like being thrown up in the air?
Love this one too.
I feel like this shot pretty much sums up her personality.
No photoshopping here, her eyes are really that blue.
And mom and dad. Always like to get one of them alone. We made out with the great light at the end of the day.

The B Family | Ashburn VA Family Photographer
I find twins endlessly fascinating. I've photographed lots of fraternal twins, but never identical twins--that is, until I met the B family! Their little guys are two year old identical twins, and boy were they fast! Typical of kids this age, they had tons of energy, so an outdoor session was just the thing for them. We ended the session at the park--a reward for their great behavior! Here are some favorites from the session.
I like to do a few photos of the parents with my family sessions--usually the last time the parents had photos together was at their wedding, which is just not right!
