The Cobbler's Kids Finally Have Shoes!

I always use the saying, "the cobbler's son has no shoes" to describe my situation with photographs and my own family. Often, I, like so many other photographers I know, get so caught up in doing work for our clients, that we forget to record our own memories. I resolved to do better at this task this year, especially after going to Love Affair, where we talked a lot about balance. So, my daughter just turned 4 this Summer, and my son just turned 2 in September, and I hadn't taken photos of either of them! So, I asked my husband to dress them up and bring them out to the Briar Patch at the end of my day of sessions there. Turned out, it started pouring right as they got there, and then the boy would not cooperate at all! Later on that night, we realized he actually had a temperature and was clearly not feeling well. So, all things considered, I feel lucky to have gotten anything that day, and I even think I got a few gems. Here are a few favorites.
This may be my favorite of the both of them from the day.

Beligerant little dude.

This was the only thing that made the dude stand still and look somewhat pleasant. I have no idea why, but he thought it was hilarious.

You can tell who was being the better model that day...

The W Family | Middleburg VA Family Photographer

I met Stacy and her family last year when she was a bridesmaid in one of my weddings--the bride got her a gift certificate for a portrait session as her thank you gift! What a great idea :) We were finally able to get together in late September and do our session at the Briar Patch. Here are a few favorites!

Baby Katelyn * Session 3 | Middleburg VA Baby Photographer

Katelyn is 9 mo old! It's been so great to see her change since we started her Baby's First Year plan. She came out to see me at the Briar Patch to take advantage of this great location for her 9 mo session. As always, she was a fabulous little model--I'm not sure I've ever heard her cry! Here are some favorites.

Baby Emma & Family | Middleburg VA Family Photographer

I have Henriette to thank for the gorgeous location of the Briar Patch of my recent string of portraits there. Henriette is the manager of the BP and invited me to do the portraits there for the day--I'm so glad she did because it turned out to be a great location and everyone loved it!
Henriette's daughter Emma is the cutest little baby--how do I end up photographing the most beautiful babies in Northern VA? Just lucky, I guess! Here are some favorites from the day.

Chet | Northern VA Children's Photographer

I worked with Chet's mom many many moons ago--I think he was four when I met her! As you can see, he's grown up quite a bit! He's now in middle school and quite the poser, as you can see in the photos below! Here are some faves from the day!

Gino & Nina | Northern VA Children's Photographer

I met Gino and Nina's mom, Bahar, back before she was even married! She was a bridesmaid and then a guest at 2 weddings I did several years ago. We got back in touch through Facebook and I learned she had gotten married and had 2 kids all in a matter of a few years--wow! We'd been trying to get together to do photos for awhile, and it finally worked out last month. They came out to see me at the Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast, where I did a day of family sessions last month. I love the Briar Patch for weddings, and it is just as great for portraits. Here are some of my faves from the day.
